G = Gender attitudes and sexual expectations
Early and/or frequent exposure to sexually violent porn may:
  • Increase the likelihood of people (of all genders) developing negative gender attitudes and viewing women and non-binary people as sex objects.
  • Shape sexual expectations, particularly when porn is viewed as a ‘realistic’ template for sex, gender, and bodies.
  • Be associated with casual attitudes towards consent, acceptance of rape myths, and/or an acceptance or tolerance of sexual aggression in relationships. These attitudes can develop for the person initiating aggression and/or for the person receiving it.

“I think it influences kids to act what they see and imitate things when talking about their girlfriend to their mates and that’s disrespectful. I have some friends that get asked to try something but they don’t even know what it is because they don’t watch porn and they feel pressure to watch so they don’t feel dumb not knowing”
